Queer / LGBTIAQ+
We stand up for the rights and equality of all people in all areas, regardless of identity, gender and orientation in Germany and Europe.
LGBTIAQ+ people are exposed to discriminatory acts, violence, harassment and other disadvantages in all areas of life. Volt wants to introduce regulations and specific measures that create legal and practical equality for all. This does not mean an abstract concept of equality, but actual equality - we will accept nothing less.
Explanation of "Queer / LGBTIAQ+"
Queer and LGBTIAQ+ are collective terms for people whose gender identity, sexual interest or who they love does not fit the standard hetero-cis-allo narrative.
Specifically, the term LGBTIAQ+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Inter, A-, Queer and other discriminated gender, sexual and romantic orientations/identities.
Explanation of "Ally"
Anyone can be an ally, all you have to do is actively advocate for the marginalised group.

Policies on queer persons
Anti-discrimination is considered in all areas at Volt.
Here we list the policies that specifically address the concerns of queer people.
End discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity
LGBTIAQ+ people are exposed to discriminatory acts, violence, harassment and other disadvantages in all areas of life. Volt wants to introduce regulations and specific measures that create legal and practical equality for all. This does not mean an abstract concept of equality, but actual equality - we will accept nothing less.
Therefore, Volt wants to promote the openness of society for people of different sexual orientations through education and anti-discrimination measures, and also establish equal rights politically by strengthening the rights of trans* and intersex persons.
Education & Antidiscrimination
Volt wants to legalise and defend marriage for all throughout Europe in order to grant all couples the same rights, obligations and bonds. In addition, Volt wants to extend adoption and parentage rights to all adults without distinction, including same-sex couples; the decisive factor should be that the child grows up in a safe and loving environment. Violence and hate crimes committed on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation of the victims are to be punished more severely. In order to guarantee this and to ensure that the above-mentioned offences are recognised, training and awareness-raising measures should be introduced for police officers, judges and other public service employees.
Simplification of the civil status register
Combat discrimination against queer people by strengthening the rights of trans, inter and other persons by making it easier to change their gender and keeping gender optional for entries in official documents.
Trans persons
Trans* people, like all other people, have a fundamental right to self-realisation. Volt demands that this right be put into practice and that access to medical procedures such as hormone treatments and gender reassignment surgery be made easier. Volt is therefore fundamentally in favour of strengthening the rights of trans* persons and a revision of the German Transsexual Act.
Inter persons
Existing rules in Germany should be expanded to allow non-binary people to determine their gender in identity documents, forms and official documents. Volt calls for an absolute ban on medically unnecessary "gender normalising" surgery, sterilisation, and other treatments on intersex babies and children without their consent; unless the child's life is in danger.
Adoption and parenthood law
The Adoption and Parentage Law is to be amended to include the status of co-motherhood. The legal declaration of parenthood of donors in embryo, egg and sperm donation is to be ensured, and the use of a corresponding donation is to be covered by the health insurance funds. Furthermore, parenthood agreements are to receive legal recognition.
Prohibition of conversion treatments and their advertising
Counter discrimination in blood donation by introducing Individual Risk Assessment and provisions deadlines to ensure nationwide supply of safe blood products.
