Who are we?

Almost one million people live and work in Frankfurt, but our challenges are shared with over 100 million people in cities across Europe. With Volt, we stand for the urban life of tomorrow - with progressive and pragmatic solutions.

Volt Frankfurt is a part of Volt Europe, the first pan-European party! In the European City of Frankfurt we are committed to a progressive, sustainable and united Europe. Following the motto: "Choose Europe, move Frankfurt".

You can find out here about Volt Europe. And find out on this website what we stand for in Frankfurt.

Now we are also in the "Römer" (Frankfurt city parliament)

In the municipal elections on the 14th of March 2021, the people of Frankfurt voted on who represents them in Frankfurt’s city parliament (“Stadtverordnetenversammlung” or “StVV”), the districts local advisory boards (“Ortsbeiräte” or “OBR”) and the foreigners advisory council (“kommunale Ausländervertretung” or “KAV”).

In the vote on Frankfurt’s city parliament, 3,7% of voters choose Volt, resulting in 4 volters entering parliament. In a progressiv coalition with “Die Grünen”, SPD and FDP we govern Frankfurt.

We also got enough votes to have representatives in the local advisory boards of districts 1, 3, 4 and 12. If you live in one of these districts and see an issue in your district, feel invited to contact us!

In the vote on the foreigners advisory council, Volt’s Georgie Iliev was elected to be one of the 37 representatives. The foreigners advisory council represents citizens of countries outside the EU, who are not allowed to vote in the election of Frankfurt’s city parliament

Questions to Maximilian

^

Why do you want to be elected into parliament?

Max: „I want new politics. To this day, the established parties have no ambitious plan for recovery after the pandemic. After Brexit, no steps for strongly needed European integration have been taken. In the face of the challenges posed by climate change, increasing migration and shifting balance of global power, we need to provide answers. I don’t want to continue watching from the side-lines. With Volt and through the German parliament, I want to shape a new, democratic European Union, that develops and implements solutions as one.

What are you doing outside of Volt?

„I work as coordinator of integration at the NGO jobs4refugees and support refugees in finding their way into the job market. The topics of Asylum- and Migration policy are very important to me. Outside of work, I like to run, ride my bicycle in the surrounding area of Frankfurt play „Blues“ on the piano. I am looking forward to backpack travel and concerts, as soon as the pandemic is over.

What would you like to change as soon as possible?

“Not all demographics in Germany participate equally in politics. For example, only about 32% of representatives in the German parliament are women. People with a story of migration or refuge, are significantly underrepresented in public offices. If I could, I’d change this in an instance, so that the diversity of our society is represented in politics. I think this is one key condition for politics, which serve the diverse needs of all people. This is what I want to try to push for with Volt.

Why Volt?

“The thing I like most about Volt it their integrative character: Volt is not only a party, its also a movement of politically interested European citizens. People that want to contribute, find a fitting task incredibly fast and can take responsibility. This creates an unfathomably high amount of motivation and energy.”
